    Abstract: A polyolefin composition suitable for preparing single ply roofing membranes , comprising: (A) from about 15 to 40% by weight of a crystalline copolymer of propylene with at least one alpha-olefin of formula H2C=CHR1, where R1 is H or a C2-8 linear or branched alkyl, containing at least about 90% by weight of propylene, having solubility in xylene at room temperature lower than about 15% by weight; (B) from about 60 to about 85% by weight of an elastomeric fraction comprising: (1) a copolymer of propylene with ethylene containing about 20 to about 35% by weight ethylene, and having solubility in xylene at room temperature greater than about 70% by weight, the intrinsic viscosity o f the xylene soluble fraction being higher than about 3.0dl/g; and (2) a copolymer of ethylene with at least one alpha-olefin of formula H2C=CHR2, where R2 is a C2-8 linear or branched alkyl, containing about 15% to 40% by weight alpha-olefin, and having solubility in xylene at room temperature greater than about 25% by weight, the intrinsic viscosity of the xylene soluble fraction ranging from about 0.5 to about 5.0dl/g; the (1) (2) weight ratio ranging from about 1:5 to about 5:1. The polyolefin composition of the invention, preferably prepared by sequential polymerization in at least thre e stages, has tensile strength at break >= 25 Mpa, elongation at break > = 700 Mpa and toughness >= 150 Mpa.

    Abstract: Una composición de mezcla madre que comprende (porcentaje del peso): A) entre 50% y 90% de un componente de polipropileno cristalino que comprende: AI) entre 25% y 75% de una fracción que tiene un índice de fluidez MFR1 que oscila entre 0,1 y 10g/10min; y AII) entre 75% y 25% de una fracción que tiene un índice de fluidez MFR2 igual o inferior a 100 g/10min; donde la relación MFR1/MFR2 oscila entre 5 y 60; y B) entre 10% y 50% de un componente de copolímero de etileno y al menos una alfa-olefina C3-10, que contiene entre 1s5% y 50% de etileno; dicha composición de mezcla madre que tiene un valor de viscosidad intrínseca [h] de la fracción soluble en xileno a temperatura ambiente igual o superior a 3,5 dl/g, se agrega a los materiales de poliolefinas para obtener composiciones finales adecuadas para el moldeado por inyección.

The polyolefin composition of the invention, preferably prepared by sequential polymerization in at least three stages, has tensile strength at break >=25 MPa, elongation at break >=700 MPa and toughness >=150 MPa.
