Abstract: In continuous prodn. of poly(alkoxypropylamines) of formula (H2N-CH2CH2CH2O)nR (where n is an integer 2 to 6, and R is residue of a 2-6-hydric alcohol), using a Co-catalyst e.g. Co-oxide on a silica gel carrier, in the liquid phase, the catalyst is pre-treated with some other nitrile (e.g. an aliphatic or aromatic nitrile) in presence of H2. Claimed process minimises risk of decomposition of catalyst.
