    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inhibit the growth of pop-corn polymer by adding a specific aliphatic alcohol to not-stabilized substance that contains an olefinically unsaturated organic compound and has a tendency of forming pop corn polymer so that the yield, selectivity and the catalyst life is improved advantageously. SOLUTION: An aliphatic alcohol of the formula: ROH (R is a 3-20C alkyl or alkylene), preferably n-butanol is added to a substance that contains an olefinically unsaturated organic compound and has a tendency of forming pop corn polymer, preferably in an amount of 0.1-90 wt.% thereby inhibiting the growth of pop-corn polymer. The olefinically unsaturated organic compound that has a tendency of forming pop-corn polymer has the conjugated diene group and is preferably 1,3-butadiene or isoprene. They may be added batchwise or continuously. The batchwise addition is advantageous in the case where the substance is stored in a tank or transported to a tightly closed vessel.

    Abstract: Process for carrying out a high temperature reaction comprises feeding educts to a reaction chamber through channels of a burner block. The high temperature reaction is carried out at temperatures of at least 1500[deg] C with a short dwell time in the reaction chamber and the reaction mixture is rapidly cooled in a quenching region. Process for carrying out a high temperature reaction comprises feeding educts to a reaction chamber (4) through channels (2) of a burner block (3). The high temperature reaction is carried out at temperatures of at least 1500degrees C with a short dwell time in the reaction chamber and the reaction mixture is rapidly cooled in a quenching region (5). Direct cooling to 650-1200degrees C is carried out in the quenching region by introducing a vaporizing quenching medium and indirect cooling is carried out in a heat exchanger. Independent claims are also included for: (1) Reactor for carrying out the process; and (2) Process for scaling up a reactor.
