Abstract: Prodn. of carbon granules from a suspension comprising 30-50 wt.% finely divided carbon and 50-70 wt.% of a hydrocarbon liq. contg. up to 20 wt.% cokable components comprises introducing the suspension into a hot (400-600 deg.C) rotating bed of carbon with a particle size of up to 1mm, where the ratio of suspension to carbon in the bed is 1:2-6 and the bed is rotated/agitated at a stirrer speed of 5-25 rpm, so that the cokable components agglomerate the carbon in the suspension and bed to form granules and the non-cokable components are distd. off.
