Abstract: Linear, thermoplastic and elastic polyurethane leather and leather finishes soluble in THF and having modulus E >200 N/mm2 and high surface hardness is prepd. from the reaction prod. of A) 1 mol linear-Oh contg. polyester and/or polyether with mol. wt. 600-4000, B) 4-16 mol. branched 4-11C aliphatic diol, opt. substd by up to 50 mol % with linear 2-8C diol, C) 0-1 mol aliphatic tri- or polyol and D) 5-16 mol aromatic diisocyanate for formula (I): where X is -CH2-, or SO2, and R and R1 are H, Cl and/or methyl whereby the ratio -OH gps: -NCO gps. is approx. 1:1-1:1.06. The leather is soluble in a number of organic solvents and has high surface hardness, elasticity modulus and abrasion resistance.
