    Abstract: Chrome complex dyestuffs of formula (I) are new:- In (I) A is an aliphatic or carbocyclic amine residue D is a diazo; Z is an aliphatic; carbocyclic or heterocyclic gp.; X is an -O- or -CO2- gp; B is as X or >N-L; E is an -O- or >N-L where L is H or alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or aryl, opt. substd. R1 is H, Cl, Br, an alkyl or alkoxy gp., nitro, acylamino or carboxyl or a carbamoyl or sulphamoyl gp. opt. substd by N1, R2 is H, Cl, Br, an alkyl gp. nitro, and R1 and R2 being also able to form together a condensed phenyl gp. (I) are used for dyeing and printing natural or synthetic materials such as wool, leather, polyamide or polyurethanes. Dyeing with (I) have excellent fastness, partic. wet fastness in washing, gassing, and perspiration. (I) have good powers of migration giving regular, level dyeings despite the size of the molecule and the increased number of anionic charges. Because of their excellent solubility (I) are partic. suited to continuous dyeing e.g. of cloth.

    Abstract: The dyes have formula (I) in the free acid form in which A is the residue of an aliphatic or carbocyclic amine component, D is the residue of a diazo component, Z is an aliphatic carbocyclic or heterocyclic gp. X is -O- or -COO-, B is X or > N-L, E is -O- or > N-L, L is H or opt. substd. (cyclo)alkyl, aralkyl or aryl gp. R1 is H, Cl, Br, alkyl, alkoxy, nitro, acylamino, carboxy or opt. N-substd carbamoyl or sulphamoyl gp. and R2 is H, Cl, Br alkyl or nitro or R1 and R2 together form a condensed benzene ring. The dyes (I) have good solubility properties and can be obtd. in the form of stable conc. solns. which can be used directly for the prodn. of dye baths and printing pastes. The dyes are esp. useful for dyeing natural and synthetic N-contg. materials such as wool, leather, polyamide and polyurethane fibres. The dyes have good fastness to light, sweat, moisture and washing. Due to the large number of anionic charges they carry, they have good migration properties and give level dyeings. Due to the good solubility properties, they are esp. useful in continuous dyeing processes, e.g. in carpet dyeing.

    Abstract: A pressure-sensitive recording material which comprises a substrate bearing a dye-forming component and a binder. The dye-forming component is a spirodipyran of the formula where A is the radical of a fused benzene or naphthalene ring (which rings may or may not be substituted), R1 is alkyl of 1 to 16 carbon atoms, substituted or unsubstituted phenyl or phenalkyl of 7 to 10 carbon atoms, R2 is H or together with R1 is a trimethylene or tetramethylene bridge which is unsubstituted or substituted by from 1 to 3 alkyl, R3 is benzyl or beta -phenylethyl and R4 is benzyl, beta -phenylethyl or substituted or unsubstituted phenyl, or R3 is alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms and R4 is substituted or unsubstituted phenyl or R3 is benzyl and R4 is beta -cyanoethyl. The recording materials give violet to bluish green colorations (copies) only on paper coated with an electron acceptor.
