Abstract: Un proceso y un aparato para la preparacion continua de ésteres de alquilo de ácido (met)acrílico mediante la reaccion de ácido (met)acrílico y alcanoles monohídrico de 1 a 8 átomos de carbono en la fase libre de solvente líquida homogénea, a temperaturas elevadas y en presencia de un catalizador ácido de esterificacion, mediante la alimentacion del ácido (met)acrílico, el alcanol y el catalizador ácido en forma continua a una zona de reaccion, la zona de reaccion consiste en una cascada de cuando menos dos regiones de reaccion conectadas en serie, y la corriente de descarga de una region de reaccion forma una corriente de alimentacion de una region de reaccion que se encuentra corriente abajo. La cascada puede tener de dos a cuatro regiones de reaccion espacialmente separadas entre ellas.

Abstract: The hydrogenation of cyclic hydrocarbons containing olefinic double bonds is effected in the vapour phase at elevated temperature and atmospheric pressure in the presence of a large excess of hydrogen and a hydrogenation catalyst deposited on a macroporous carrier preferably having a pore size of not less than 1000 . Suitable catalysts contain 1-10% of platinum or palladium by weight of the carrier or a mixture of 10-20% of nickel, 1-10% of copper and 0.5-5% of manganese. The carrier may be granulated Italian pumice, kieselguhr, precipitated or muffle-heated silica or macroporous activated carbon. Suitable temperatures are 120-300 DEG C. and the initial material may be mixed with 10-50 times its volume of hydrogen. Aromatic rings are unaffected. The hydrogenation of cyclo-octatetraene, cyclodecapentaene, cyclododecahexaene, vinylcyclo-octatetraene, cyclododecatriene and phenylbutadiene is referred to.

Abstract: The continuous prodn. of alkyl(meth)acrylates (I) by the reaction of (meth)acrylic acid (II) and 1-8C monohydric alcohols (III) in homogeneous liq. phase at elevated temp. in the absence of solvent and in presence of an acid esterification catalyst (IV). The process comprises (a) feeding (II), (III) and (IV) continuously into a reaction zone (RZ), (b) removing (I) after a residence time in the form of an azeotrope contg. water or water and (III) in addn. to (I) at the top of a rectifier column (RC) mounted over the RZ, (c) separating the distillate into an organic phase contg. (I) and aq. phase(s) contg. water, (d) recycling part of the organic phase via the top of the column and opt. returning water to the RZ, (e) separating (I) from the rest of the organic phase and removing part of the reaction mixt. continuously from the RZ. The RZ consists of a cascade of at least two reactors in series, and the outflow from one reactor provides the input flow for the next reactor. Also claimed is an appts. for this process.
