Abstract: Removing non-reacted formaldehyde oligomer containing monomer residue and polyoxymethylene homo- or -copolymer comprises: drawing-off the monomer residue from gaseous polymer, in a degassing device; and contacting the residue with a catalyst exhibiting acid group and at which the formaldehyde oligomer is transferred to monomer formaldehyde (where the pressure in the contacting step is less than or equal to the pressure in the drawing step). Independent claims are included for: (1) the preparation of polyoxymethylene homo- or -copolymers comprising producing or retaining the monomer in a monomer plant; polymerizing the monomer in the polymerization reactor to give polymers; and removing the monomer residue in the polymer, during or after polymerization, by the above method; and (2) a polyoxymethylene homo- or -copolymers obtained by the process.
