    Abstract: Ascorbic acid granules for direct tableting are prepared by the compacting method, wherein the ascorbic acid in the form of crystals or crystal fragments, of which not more than 40% by weight have a longest particle diameter of less than 50 mu m and not more than 15% by weight have a longest particle diameter greater than 500 mu m, and as a mixture with from 0.8 to 8% by weight of soluble polyvinylpyrrolidone having a water content of from 0.3 to 5% is compacted in a conventional manner, and the product is comminuted.

    Abstract: Process for the preparation of ascorbic acid granules which can be used directly for tabletting, using the fluidised-bed method, in which process the ascorbic acid, which is in the form of crystals or crystal fragments of which not more than 40% by weight have a maximum particle diameter of below 50 mu m and not more than 15% by weight have a maximum particle diameter of above 500 mu m, if appropriate as a mixture with 0.5 to 4% by weight of insoluble polyvinylpyrrolidone, is sprayed with such an amount of an aqueous solution of polyvinylpyrrolidone in a fluidised-bed granulator that the granules contain a total of 1.0 to 8% by weight of polyvinylpyrrolidone, of which at least 0.5% by weight is soluble, and simultaneously or optionally after having been sprayed, the granules are dried at 40 to 70 DEG C in such a way that the water content of the finished granules is 0.3 to 1% by weight.
