Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hairsetting composition which no longer has disadvantages of conventional technology such as ease of wash off, the solubility, and texture of the treated hair and setting power, etc.
SOLUTION: The hairsetting composition comprises as film-formers copolymers based on t-butyl acrylate or t-butyl methacrylate having a K value of from 10 to 50 which are obtainable by free-radical polymerization of (A) from 30 to 72 wt.% of t-butyl acrylate as monomer A, (B) from 10 to 28 wt.% of methacrylic acid as monomer B, and (C) from 3 to 60 wt.% of ethyl acrylate or a mixture of the ethyl acrylate and N-t-butyl acrylamide as monomers C, (where at least one of the monomers C produces a homopolymer having a glass transition temperature of less than 30°C.), the carboxyl groups of the copolymers being partially or completely neutralized.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water-soluble or water-dispersible polymer salt by blending a polymer having a free acid group (PA) and a neutralizer containing a compound having a free amino group (VA) or a polymer having a free amino group (PB) and a compound having a free acid group (VB) where each of these compounds has a hydrophilic group. SOLUTION: The acid groups for the components PA and VB are preferably each carboxylic acid or sulfonic acid group. The amino groups for the components PB and VA are preferably each a tertiary amino group. The components PA and PB are each selected from a polyurethane, a poly(meth) acrylate, a poly(meth)acrylamide, a polymer containing pyrrolidone and their mixture. For the component VA, N-methyldipropylene triamine, α,ω- diaminopolyether or the like is used. The component VB is a linear or branched 6-40C dicarboxylic acid or a 6-40C polycarboxylic acid.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the use of a cross-linked cationic copolymer having N- vinylimidazole units in a cosmetic composition. SOLUTION: (i) The use of a radical-initiated copolymer of a monomer mixture comprising (a) 1-99.99 wt. % of N-vinylimidazole or a quaternized N- vinylimidazole, (b) 0-98.99 wt. % of a neutral or basic water-soluble monomer, (c) 0-49.00 wt. % of an unsaturated acid or an unsaturated acid anhydride, (d) 0-50 wt. % of a radically copolymerizable monomer, and (e) 0.01-10 wt. % of another radically copolymerizable bifunctional or multifunctional monomer and (ii) a polymer obtained by subsequently quaternizing or protonating the radical-initiated copolymer, when the N-vinylimidazole not quaternized is used as the monomer (a). The cross-linked cationated copolymer having the N- vinylimidazole units acts remarkably good conditioning and setting actions in cosmetics for hair.

SOLUTION: A water-soluble and/or water-dispersible polyaspartic acid derivative or its carboxylic acid salt and polycarboxylic acid salt or quaternarized product based on the unit of the formula (x+y1 +y2 +z=100; (x) is 30-100; (y1 ) is 0-70: (y2 ) is 0-50; (z) is 0-30; A is a primary or secondary non-aromatic amine; B is an amine having t-amino group; C is a group derived from the amine A by the elimination of the amine hydrogen) are used for cosmetic use, especially for the treatment of hair. The compounds of the formula wherein (x) is 30-99.9, (y1 ) is 0.1-50 and (y2 ) is 5-50 are new compounds. The compound of the formula can be produced by reacting a polyaspartic acid or a polysuccinimide with the amine A and the amine B.

SOLUTION: This polyurea having at least one ionogen group or inonic group comprises (A) a diamine having a group: (-CH2CH2O)n-(C3H6-O-)m [(m), (n) are each 0 to 50, provided that (m)+(n) is 5 to 60], (B) an amino group or hydroxyl group-containing polysiloxane for example, a compound of the formula [R1, R2 are each an alkyl or the like; E1, E2 are each OH or NHR3 (R3 is H, an alkyl or the like); (a), (b) are each 2 to 8; (c) is 3 to 50]}, (C) a diisocyanate, (D), if necessary, a diamine, a triamine or a tetraamine or a polyamine which has at least one ionogen group, and (E), if necessary, one or more diamines which each has a mol.wt. of 60 to 6,000 g/mole.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a compsn. which makes the better dissolution of a water- insoluble component possible by incorporating the water-insoluble component and a copolymer formed from an N-vinylcarboxamide and a hydrophobic monomer copolymerizable therewith into the same. SOLUTION: At least one water-insoluble component which is pref. an acting substance or an auxiliary agent used for medicines or cosmetics, for plant treatments, or for nutrition industries and at least one copolymer formed from 5-99 wt.% at least one N-vinylcarboxamide represented by the formula, 1-95 wt.% at least one hydrophobic monomer copolymerizable therewith, and optionally 0-94 wt.% another copolymerizable monomer are incorporated. In the formula, R1 and R2 are each H or 1-6C alkyl. Pref. examples of the hydrophobic monomer are esters of monoethylenic unsatd. 3-8C carboxylic acids and aliph. or alicyclic 8-30C alcohols (e.g. stearyl acrylate).

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a solid dosage form by extruding a melted product containing a specific polyamide as a binder, capable of simply obtaining the dosage form having an active ingredient sustained release property at an advantageous cost. SOLUTION: This method for producing a dosage form comprises mixing (A) at least one of polymer binder, if necessary, with (B) at least one kind of active ingredient and, if necessary, further with (C) one or more kinds of conventional additives and subsequently molding the formed plastic mixture. Therein, a polyamide having sulfonate groups is used as the component A. The polyamide is preferably obtained from (i) 0-90 mol.% of at least one kind of monoaminocarboxylic acid, its lactam or a mixture of the monoaminocarboxylic acid with its lactam, (ii) 5-50 mol.% of at least one kind of a primary or secondary diamine and (iii) 0.5-49.5 mol.% of at least one kind of sulfonate group-having dicarboxylic acid.
