Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide an automobile bumper which is simple in structure and ease of manufacture, needs little material for a shock absorbing member, and besides, sufficient shock absorbency. CONSTITUTION: This bumper is provided with a supporting member being high in flexural rigidity, a polymer foam-make shock absorbing member with a recess being adjoined to this supporting member, and a protective piece covering this shock absorbing member, while this shock absorbing member 3 has a recess 6 extending in the working direction of main impact load, and a web 5 to be situated in the space.
