Abstract: The dyes are of formula (in which R is opt. substd. alkyl and ring A may contain other substits.) Either ring A or R contains a gp. of formula - (CH2)nCOO(CH2CHO)mR' (in which R' is (1-4)C alkyl, B is H or methyl, m is 2,3, or 4 and n is O-H). Pref. dyes contain H, Cl or the above polyglycol ester grp. in p-position to the azo gp. in ring A, and R is (1-10)C alkyl or the above polyglycol ester grp. The dyes are made by diazotising opt. substd. o- nitranilines, coupling with homophtalimide derives, and esterifying with a polyglycol ether if necessary. They are suitable for dyeing natural and synthetic textiles, esp. polyesters in greenish to reddish yellow shades, and can be made up into liquid concentrates.

Abstract: Powdered, highly concentrated and stably dispersible dye formulations which are substantially devoid of dye agglomerates, which contain dyes which are not soluble in water such as disperse dyes or vat dyes, anionactive dispersing agents and (as stabilizing agent) from 2 to 30% by weight based on the dye of a polyethylene oxide having a molecular weight of from 200 to 1000 or a reaction product which has been obtained from A. C6 to C20 fatty alcohols; B. ALKYLPHENOLS OF C4 to C12 in the alkyl; C. C14 to C20 fatty amines; D. CASTOR OIL OR HYDROGENATED CASTOR OIL; E. C14 to C20 fatty acids; or F. NATURAL RESIN ACIDS WITH FROM 2 TO 80 MOLES OF ETHYLENE OXIDE PER MOLE OF OH or NH2 groups; or from ALKYLENEDIAMINES OF TWO TO FIVE CARBON ATOMS WITH FROM 25 TO 120 MOLES OF PROPYLENE OXIDE AND ETHYLENE OXIDE PER MOLE OF NH2 groups. The formulations are stable in storage at 60 DEG C and remain devoid of dye agglomerates.

Abstract: Conc. aq. dispersions of dyes with low solubility in water, contg. (A) 40-60 wt. % dispersion or vat dyes, and (B) a dispersing agent consisting of a condnsn. prod. of phenol, formaldehyde (or formaldehyde donor) and Na2SO3 or NaHSO3 in aq. medium in ratio of 1:1-4: 0.3-1-6 mols in presence of 0.05-0.5 mol NaOH per mol phenol at 125-200 degrees C and condnsn time of 1-8h. Stable dispersions are obtd. with reduced amts. of dispersing agent, allowing high concns. of dye without excessive viscosity. Yellowing of fibres, esp. when dispersions of optical brighteners are used, and harmful effects on the brightness or exhaustion props of the dyes are avoided.
