Abstract: 1369918 Brightening α-aminocarboxylic acids or salts BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODAFABRIK AG 10 Feb 1972 [11 Feb 1971] 6199/72 Heading C2C α-Aminocarboxylic acids or salts containing a unit of formula in which R 1 is hydrogen or substituted or unsubstituted o-hydroxyphenyl, R 2 is hydrogen, -CH 2 CH 2 OH or -CH 2 COOX, and X is H, Na or K, are brightened by irradiating a discoloured solution or suspension of the compound by radiation of wavelength below 7000 Š until significant bleaching has occurred. Examples treat solutions of NTA sodium salt, EDTA tetrasodium salt, and sodium diethylenetriamine penta-acetate; other suitable compounds are specified.
