Abstract: Electrophilic substn. of nitrosamines on the C-atom in the alpha-position to the amino-N-atom, by preparing alpha-metallo derivs. of the nitrosamines and reacting the organo-metallic cpd. with an electrophile. The prods. are useful in studying biochemical processes, e.g. in cancer research. Pref. metals are alkali metals, especially Li, but, Na, and K and alkaline earths e.g. Mg. Zn, Cd may be used. Electrophiles include aldehydes, ketones, alkyl halides, alkyl sulphates, alkyl benzenesulphonates, acylating agents etc.
