    Abstract: Mfe. of textured yarns from linear, high m.w. synthetic material, by passing them through canal shaped treatment zones in which they are subjected to the action of a stream of heated fluid, pref. a gas, with the improvement whereby the exposure to the turbulent stream of fluid is brought about between a feed inlet channel and a guide channel in which the yarns are heated to a temp. causing re-orientation processes, and are brought by the fluid stream via the guide channel and a sudden enlargement causing a drop in pressure, into and through a treatment zone of slightly tapering conical section where eddying of the fluid stream with the ambient air occurs, bringing about a shapr drop of temp., the length of the apertures as well as the distances between them and the guide channel being adjustable, with response amplification, so that a star-shaped compression of the yarns results automatically without plugging, with continuous movement in the zone of lowered temp., which has a stabilising effect.
