Abstract: Additives to diesel- and heating fuels based on mineral oil distillates of boilding range 150-400 degrees C for improving their resistance to freezing comprise salt of dialkyl amine having at least one alkyl group with 6 or more C-atoms, and mono- or dibasic aliphatic carboxylic acid with 6-20C atoms, applied in amounts of 0.005-0.2 weight %. Additive are applied to distillates containing crystallisable paraffins; these paraffins begin to separate at temperatures of to -20 degrees C. The pour point can be lowered from -20 to -38 (example) with salt obtained from stearyl amine and adipic acid.

Abstract: A lubricating composition of reduced tendency to produce rust or corrosion comprises a lubricating oil and (i) a substance of formula: wherein R is an alkyl or alkyl radicle having more than 8 carbon atoms, R1 and R11 are hydrogen atoms or alkyl, alkenyl, alkinyl, aryl or aralkyl radicles and X is oxygen or sulphur, or (ii) an N-methylol compound produced by the action of formaldehyde on a substance of the above formula. The lubricating oil may be a mineral oil, a vegetable oil or an ester oil, while boring oils, which are used in the form of aqueous emulsions, are also mentioned. Ingredient (i) may be N - stearyl - glyoxal monoureine of an alkyl ether thereof, dimethyl- or or dibenzyl-N-stearyl-dihydroxy-imidazoline or ethers thereof, or N - palmityl - glyoxal dihydroxymonothioureine. In the examples, mineral lubricating oil compositions are described which contain stearyl glyoxal monoureine or its monomethyl or monobutyl ether.
