Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a selective hydrogen add. method to an org. compd. having at least one unsatd. group, which directly accomplishes a purpose without necessity of a troublesome catalyst separation from an objective product and produces the objective product in high conversion rate of an objective hydrogen addition and further in high selectivity. SOLUTION: A hydrogen addition method is a method selectively adding hydrogen to at least one kind of an org. compd. having at least one unsatd. group by bringing the org. compd. into contact with a hydrogen contg. gas in the presence of a catalyst. The catalyst contains a catalyst acting material formed in a solid electrolyte, which is combined to a metal substrate, and thus, a current flows in the solid electrolyte, accordingly this catalyst acting material is maintained at a stationary potential during the hydrogen addition reaction and further a potential is applied to the catalyst.

SOLUTION: At least one kind of a group X metal and at least one kind of a group XI metal are supported on an aluminum oxide carrier and the group X metal (single kind or plural kinds) is conc. on the outer layer near to the surface of each of catalyst particles and the group XI metal (single kind or plural kinds) is substatially uniformly distributed over the total vol. of catalyst particles and the wt. ratio of the group XI metal to the group X metal is below 1.95.

Abstract: The invention relates to a catalytic converter for the selective hydrogenati on of alkines and dienes in C2-C5+ olefin mixtures. Said catalytic system contains (a) a metal from the tenth group of the periodic table of elements, (b) a metal from the eleventh group of the periodic table of elements, (c) optionally, a compound of a metal of the first or second group of the periodic table of elements, whereby said metals are supported on a carrier selected from the group consisting of silicium dioxide, titanium dioxide, zirconium oxides, spinelles, zinc aluminates, zinc titanates, aluminium silicates or mixtures of said substances. The metal stemming from the eleventh group of the periodic table of elements is homogeneously distributed over the cross-section of catalyst particles. The metal stemming from the tenth group of the periodic table of elements is located at the surface-proximate edge layer of said catalyst particles. Said catalytic converter is preferably produced by applying the metal from the eleventh group is preferably applied already during the production of the carrier by dipping it into a solution of a suitable metal salt.

The process comprises adjusting the hydrogen content before the penultimate zone and the conversion in the penultimate zone so that the reaction mixture leaving the penultimate zone contains at least 0.7 vol.% hydrogen.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the selective hydrogenation of alkynes and dienes in C2-C5+-olefin mixtures,-in C2- or C3-streams of the olefin preparation by cracking. The method comprises conducting the hydrogenation in the presence of a catalyst particle comprising (a) a metal of the tenth group of the Periodic Table, (b) a metal of the eleventh group of the Periodic Table and (c) optionally a compound of a metal of the first or second group of the Periodic Table. Components (a) and (b), and optionally (c), are applied to a support selected from the group consisting of silica, titanium dioxide, zirconium oxides, spinels, zinc aluminates, zinc titanate, aluminosilicates and mixtures thereof. The metal of the eleventh group is distributed homogeneously over the cross-section of the catalyst particle, and the metal of the tenth group is present in an edge layer close to the surface of the catalyst particle.

Abstract: In a coated catalyst having a core and at least one shell surrounding the core, the core is made up of an inert support material, the shell or shells is/are made up of a porous support substance, with the shell being attached physically to the core, and a catalytically active metal selected from the group consisting of the metals of the 10th and 11th groups of the Periodic Table of the Elements is present in finely divided form or a precursor of the catalytically active metal is present in uniformly distributed form in the shell or shells. The coated catalyst of the present invention is suitable for the reduction of unsaturated hydrocarbons. Here, better selectivities than in the case of previously known coated catalysts can be achieved. A process for producing the coated catalyst is also described.
