Abstract: Mouldings based on finely divided, organic and/or inorganic materials which contain, as binder, the solid component of an aqueous polymer dispersion obtainable by polymerising unsaturated monomers which can be polymerised by means of free radicals, in the aqueous phase in the presence of a monosaccharide, oligosaccharide or polysaccharide, oxidatively, hydrolytically and/or enzymatically degraded polysaccharides, chemically modified mono-, oligo- or polysaccharides, or mixtures of said compounds, by the process of free-radical aqueous emulsion polymerisation.
