Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a substantially integrated reusable composite element used for dashboards, etc., of automobiles by using thermoplastic polyurethane as a surface layer and thermoplastic polyurethane elastic body as a carrier layer. CONSTITUTION: This composite element consists of an elastic foaming polyurethane surface material of thermoplastic polyurethane as a surface layer and a thermoplastic polyurethane elastic body as a carrier layer. The thermoplastic polyurethane elastic body as a carrier layer is produced in such a manner that one mole and one type of substantially liner polyesterol or polyetherol having at least 600 to 3000 molecular weight, 6 to 15 mole organic diisocyanate, and 5 to 14 mole and at least one type of alkanediol or dialkylene glycol are reacted by adding 0.05 to 0.3% water of them by weight, or catalyst, auxiliary agent, and addition agent.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To inexpensively produce a synthetic resin sheet capable of being lined with a polyurethane(PU) foam material by sintering a specific thermoplastic PU or a mixture thereof. CONSTITUTION: A powdery thermoplastic polyurethane having a melt index of 50-350 at 190 deg.C under a load of 212N (21.6 kp), Shore A hardness of 80-98 and an average particle size of 50-800 μm is sintered, if necessary, in the presence of 0.05-1.0 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of a thermoplastic polyurethane(PU) of aluminum oxide or a silica gel by using a mold heated to 220-280 deg.C. By this method, a flexible elastic polyurethane sheet with a thickness of 0.3-3 mm, pref., 0.6-1.2 mm is produced. Since non-preferable mutual action is brought about between the sheet and the PU foam, this sheet is suitably lined with an elastic, semi-hard or especially hard PU foam.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To simplify a method of manufacturing an air bag and improve the aging resistance of seams by forming an air bag sheet of thermoplastic polyurethane, polyvinyl chloride, polypropylene, polyethylene, polyamide, or a mixture of these. CONSTITUTION: An air bag comprises a cover body 1, a body 2, a holding annular body 3 for mounting the body 2 to a gas generating device, a mounting part 4 with a plurality of strip cords 5 stabilized in an inflated state to hold shape, and heat insulating material. A sheet for the air bag is formed of thermoplastic polyurethane, polyvinyl chloride, polypropylene, polyethylene, polyamide, or a mixture of these. A fiber layer used for the sheet is formed of polyamide, polyester, polyaramide, glass fiber, carbon fiber, natural fiber of at least 50 N/mm , or a mixture of these.

The use of flexible, elastomeric, thermoplastic types of polyurethane having a Shore A hardness from 60 to 80 and containing from 99 to 50 parts by weight of a thermoplastic polyurethane having a Shore A hardness from 95 to 80, a primary melt peak of the rigid segments from 210 to 220 degrees C, as determined by differential scanning calorimetry, and a melt viscosity corresponding to a melt flow index at 190 degrees C and load weight of 212 N of from 0.1 to 200, prepared by reaction of a) organic diisocyantes, b) substantially difunctional polyhydroxy compounds having molecular weights from 500 to 8,000 and c) chain extenders having molecular weights from 60 to 400 in the presence of d) catalysts and e) optionally auxiliary and/or additives and from 1 to 50 parts by weight of a plasticizer from the group consisting of di(methoxyethyl) phthalate, tricresyl, phosphate and/or diphenyl cresyl phosphate for producing sheets and molded parts.
