SOLUTION: A method for producing a polymer aqueous dispersion is provided. The polymer aqueous dispersion comprises an emulsion polymer, a polymer composed of at least 5 mass% of an ethylenically unsaturated monocarboxylic acid, dicarboxylic acid or dicarboxylic acid anhydride (abbreviated to an acid polymer SP) and an alkoxysilane represented by the formula SiR R R R [wherein, groups R to R denote each mutually independently an organic group and at least one of the groups denotes an alkoxy group]. The method for production is characterized by producing the emulsion polymer in the presence of at least a small amount of the alkoxysilane by an emulsion polymerization.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a thermally hardenable polymer dispersion powder and the use of said powder as a binding agent in particular for fibrous and grainy materials. The binding agent in powder form is obtained by drying a polymer dispersion which comprises a carboxyl-group-containing polymerization component in addition to, optionally, a hydroxy-alkylated amine.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the use of formaldehyde-free aqueous binders with broad molecular weight distribution for substrates, comprising (A) 0 to 100 wt. % of an ethylenically-unsaturated acid anhydride, or an ethylenically-unsaturated carboxylic acid the carboxylic acid group of which can form an anhydride or mixtures thereof, (B) 100 to 0 wt. % of an ethylenically-unsaturated compound, (C) at least one polyfunctional curing agent or mixtures thereof and (D) 1 - 80 wt. % of an aqueous polymer dispersion, whereby the polymers from A) and B), obtained by radical polymerisation, on classification in a coordinate system of mean molecular weights Mw and polydispersity values, lie on the surface above a straight line, defined by the linear equation y = 1,25x + 20,000 and displaced in the y-direction by at least + 3,000, whereby the x-axis is the weight average molecular weight and the y axis is the polydispersity value multiplied by 10,000. The invention further relates to the binder itself and the use thereof for example, for moulded bodies, mats or sheets, in particular, for fibrous and particulate substrates such as fibre fleece, glass fibres, rockwool, reprocessed cotton, natural fibres or artificial fibres.
Abstract:
Thermally curable binding agents based on an aqueous polymer dispersion, containing an emulsion polymer (EP), a polymer which consists of at least 5 wt. % ethylenically unsaturated monocarboxylic acid, dicarboxylic acid or dicarboxylic acid anhydride (acid polymer SP) and monofunctional or multifunctional epoxy compounds as curing agents. The monofunctional or multifunctional epoxy compound is, preferably, introduced into the aqueous polymer dispersion in a liquid state. The thermally curable binding agent can contain a polymol or an alkanolamine, in addition to the epoxy compound, as curing agents.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the use of an aqueous binding agent devoid of formaldehyde for substrates, having a large molecular weight distribution. Said binding agent contains (A) 0 - 100 wt. % of an ethylenically unsaturated acid anhydride or an ethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid, whereby the carboxylic acid groups thereof can form an anhydride group, or mixtures thereof, (B) 100 - 0 wt.- % of an ethylenically unsaturated compound, (C) at least one polyfunctional cross-linking agent or mixtures thereof. The polymers made from A) and B), obtained by radical polymerisation, classified in a coodination system according to the average molecular weight thereof Mw and the polydispersity value thereof, are arranged on a surface above a straight line which is defined by the straight equation y = 1.25x + 20000 and is displaced in direction y in a parallel manner by at least + 3000. The x axis characterises the average weight of the molecule and the y axis characterises the polydispersity multiplied by 10000.
Abstract:
Aqueous binding agent (A) comprises: (1) a polymer or its mixture obtained by radical polymerization of 5-100 wt.% of ethylenic unsaturated compound, ethylenic unsaturated carbonic acid, dicarbonic acid and/or dicarbonic acid anhydride (which together are called acid monomers); (2) alkanolamine with at least two hydroxyl groups; and (3) a yellowing inhibitor. An independent claim is included for the controlled crosslinking of the aqueous bonding agent comprising: crosslinking the polymer and alkanolamine by increasing the temperature and determining the yellowing tone of the obtained product; determining the quantity of yellowing inhibitor necessary to compensate the yellowing tone and adding the determined quantity to (A); and subsequently crosslinking (A) by increasing the temperature, where the duration of the crosslinking reaction is controlled by coloring the crosslinking product.
