Abstract:
A fluidized-bed method of roasting sulfidic materials containing arsenic and/or antimony with a gas containing oxygen with separate supply of the gas containing oxygen for the preroasting in a first stage and for the afterroasting in the second stage and with separate withdrawal of the roaster gas from the preroasting stage and from the afterroasting stage. The dusty portion of the roasted intermediate product from the first stage is introduced periodically into the fluidized bed of the second stage and, in timed relationship with this periodic introduction of the roasted intermediate product, air is periodically introduced into the gas space above the fluidized bed in the second layer in such an amount that it is adequate for complete roasting of the dusty roasted intermediate products suspended in this gas space.
Abstract:
Highly concentrated pumpable hydrosulphite pastes which are free of sediments are prepared from solid and liquid feed materials by continuously mixing and dispersing pulverulent sodium dithionite (2) and an organic liquid (8) inert towards sodium dithionite in an intensive mixer (5) comprising mixing and dispersing elements arranged in steps.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a stabilized watercontaining sodium dithionite formulation having the consistency of a pumpable paste with a viscosity of 0.1 to 1,500 Pa.s, a pH > 10 and containing 60 to 70% by weight of sodium dithionite and 15 to 30% by weight of water, the total content of these two components in the formulation not exceeding 90% by weight, and furthermore containing a sodium and/or potassium salt which is dissolved in the water, is inert to sodium dithionite and has a water solubility greater than 500 g/l at 20.degree.C, the salt being a member selected from the group consisting of sodium formate, sodium acetate, sodium hydroxymethanesulfinate, potassium carbonate and potassium sulfite and mixtures thereof, with the proviso that the concentration of the sodium and/or potassium salt dissolved in the water is not less than 200 g/l. The paste is useful as reducing agent.
Abstract:
Stabilized water-containing sodium dithionite formulations which have been rendered alkaline have the consistency of a pumpable paste. They additionally contain readily soluble sodium salts and/or potassium salts which are inert to sodium dithionite and whose water-solubility at 20 DEG C. exceeds 500 g/l. These salts are present in the aqueous phase in an amount of not less than 200 g/l. The pastes are useful reducing agents.
