Abstract: Plate 1-20 mm. is continuously screw extruded from polyethylene of 0.918-0.930 g./cm.3 density and melt index (ASTM D1238-65T) 0.2-0.5 at a mass temp. of 120-220 degrees C. The plate is continuously layered by a roller pair on both sides at a mass temp. of 100-220 degrees C. with, first, an 0.01-0.2 mm. film of a quaternary polymer. Then with an 0.05-1.5 mm. metal sheet, and the whole is sandwiched and bonded under 0.1-4 kg./cm.2 roll pressure, then cooled. The quaternary polymer comprises (parts by wt.): 60-90 ethylene, 0.5-20 of an ethylenic unsatd. organic acid, 0.5-20 f an ester of such an acid, and 0.3-5 isobutylene (adding to 100 parts). Pref. the acid is 3-5C and the 1-8C alkyl ester of it is used, e.g. tert.-butyl acrylate.

Abstract: The component consists of a thick inner layer of thermoplastic material on both sides of which thin intermediate layers of an adhesion agent are applied. Thin external layers of metal are applied to the adhesive layers. The polyethylene, of density 0.918-0.930 g/cm3., is continuously extruded at a thickness of 1-20 mm. and an 0.01-0.2 mm. thick film of quaternary polymerisate is used to cover the thermoplastic material. The polymerisate consists of 0.5-20.0 wt.% of an ethylenated unsatd. carbonic acid, 0.5-20.0 wt.% of an ester of the latter, 60-90 wt.% ethylene, as well as 0.3-5.0 wt.% of isobutylene. Sheet metal 0.05-2.5 mm. thick is then continuously applied on both sides by rolling at 100-250 degrees C. and pressure of 5-50 kp./cm2., and the sandwiched structure is cooled to below 60 degrees C. and cut into the required lengths.
