Abstract: Process for the recovery of cyclopentane and/or cyclopentenes comprises: removing a 5C hydrocarbon mixture with an elevated concentration of cyclopentane and cyclopentenes from a distillation column, in which the partially hydrogenated pyrolysis gasoline is fractionated; decomposing this mixture with either by fractional distillation into cyclopentane and cyclopentenes; or catalytically hydrogenating and subsequently fractionally distilling to recover cyclopentane.
