    Abstract: PURPOSE: To uniformly coat the structure-imparting surface of a substrate made of a plastic material by forming a middle layer insoluble in an org. solvent and acting as a diffusion barrier and an amorphous dye-contg. recording layer on the surface of the substrate. CONSTITUTION: This recording material is constituted of a transparent substrate made of a plastic material, and has the structure-imparting surface, a middle layer insoluble in an org. solvent and acting as a diffusion barrier and an amorphous thermally variable dye-contg. recording layer. The middle layer has 5-95nm thickness, consists of 88-99.5wt.% oxide and/or hydroxide of one or more kinds of elements such as Ti and Zr and 0.5-12wt.% hydrocarbyl and is formed by dissolving one or more kinds of alkoxides of one or more kinds of elements in a polar liq. medium essentially contg. 1-6C alkanol, applying the resultant soln. to the surface of the substrate and heat-treating the resultant wet layer at 50-120 deg.C for 5min to 2hr. The structure-imparting surface of the substrate can be perfectly coated with the middle layer in a uniform thickness.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To improve the manufacture, sensitivity and S/N ratio by adjusting a content of Au in a recording layer manufactured by spattering Au and at least one of specific metals onto a base at least two times, the average particle diameter of the particles generating the surface protuberance and the average phase depth to be specific values. CONSTITUTION: A recording layer comprising a base stable in size, Au and at least one of the metals selected from Ru, Rh, Rd, Ag, Cu, Re, Oc, Tr and Pt includes 15-85 wt.% of Au to the total amount of the recording layer, and has the surface protuberance with 10-200 mm of average particle diameter. Further the average phase thickness (d) is 5-300 nm when it is represented by a formula; d=(dmin +dmax )/2 (dmin is the average thickness of ten particles of the thinnest part of the recording layer, and dmax is the average thickness of ten particles of the thickest part).

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To produce a planer multilayered recording material which induces significant magnetization perpendicular to the layers by forming recording layers and a single or multilayered film containing carbides, nitrides, etc., in a preferable order, number and thickness to have a desirable inner structure. CONSTITUTION: This recording material has such a preferable inner structure that a single or multilayered film (C) containing carbides, nitrides, oxides is formed on one or both surfaces of a recording layer (B) on a base body (A) in a preferable order, number and thickness. The recording layer (B) consists of an amorphous lanthanide transition metal alloy and can be changed by heat. Significant magnetization is induced perpendicular to the surface of the recording layer (B) to obtain a flat magneto-optical multilayered recording material. In this case, the layer (C) is formed as a layer C1 comprising plural components and having 30 to 500nm thickness. These components are made present in three or more element layers, carbide layers or nitride layers. The component of the element layers is selected from among B, Al, Ga, In, Si, Ge, Sn, Pb, Sb, Mg, Ti and Zr.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a long-life planer magneto-optical multilayered recording material by using an optically transparent base body having dimensional stability and forming a recording layer comprising an amorphous lanthanide transition metal alloy which can be changed by heat on the base body, and applying a specified element compsn. on the surface of the recording layer opposite to the base body. CONSTITUTION: This recording material consists of an optically transparent base body (A) which has dimensional stability, a recording layer (B) comprising an amorphous lanthanide transition metal allay which can be changed by heat, and a polycrystalline or X-ray amorphous layer on the recording layer (B) opposite to the base body. The polycrystalline or X-ray amorphous layer consists of carbide ceramics, oxide ceramics or nitride ceramics produced from an element compsn. expressed by formula. In formula, M -M represent Ti, Zr, Hf, Th, Se, Y, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, etc., and M -M may be different from one another, or same or different when M -M are lanthanum or lanthanides. (X) is 0 to 1 and (z) represents r+s+t satisfying r=0.005 to 0.15, s=0.005 to 0.15, and t=0 to 0.005.
