    Abstract: Prodn. of blue anthraquinone-type disperse dyes (I) comprises reacting the anthraquinone-2-carboxamide deriv. (II) with cyanide in aq. medium in presence of OH-ion trapping agent. The new feature is that reaction is in water of pH 7.5-10.5, in presence of at least one quat. ammonium salt (A) at 60-100 deg.C. R = 1-6C alkyl; 2-(1-6C alkoxy)ethyl, 3-(1-6C alkoxy)propyl or 3-(2-(1-4C alkoxy)ethoxy)propyl. Pref. reaction is at pH 7.6-10 and 70-95 (85-90) deg.C.

    Abstract: Aryllamines of formula (I): Z-NR1R2 (where Z is of formula and r1-4 are aliphatic radicals, opt. the same; R1,3,4 can be H, and/or R4 can be alkoxy) are prepd. by reacting a prim. or sec. amine of formula H-NR1R2 with a phenol of formula Z-OH, in the presence of a carboxylic acid. Cpds. (I) are useful as inters. for plant protection agents, optical brighteners, partic. aminocoumarins and dyes of xanthene, pyronine, rhodamine, oxasine series, azo dyes and dephenylmethane and triphenylmethane dyes. Simple economic process giving good yields of pure prod. The process does not leave residual tars or form N,N'-disubstd. meta-phenylenediamines, does not corrosive conditions or reagents, forms few pollutants and avoids use of high pressure and temp.

    Abstract: The preparation of 1-amino-2-carboxyanthraquinones I (I) (X denotes hydrogen, chlorine or bromine) by oxidation, under alkaline conditions, of a 1-aminoanthraquinone substituted in the 2-position by an oxidizable carbo-organic radical followed by acidification of the reaction mixture, wherein a 1-amino-2-acetylanthraquinone II (II) (Y denotes chlorine or bromine and n is equal to 0, 1 or 2) is reacted with a peroxide compound or oxygen as oxidizing agent.
