Linear synthetic polyamide materials are dyed or printed with dis- and tris-azo dyes of general formula in which A is the radical of salicylic or o- or mcresotinic acid and X is a covalent bond or one of the radicals -S-, -SO 2 -., -CH=CH-, -CH 2 -, -NH-, -CO-, or -N=N-, and in which the benzene rings I and II may bear non-ionic substituents. Dyeing is preferably effected in a weakly alkaline to strongly acid liquor at 90-100‹C. Yellow to red shades are obtained.

Abstract: Aminoguanidine is produced by reducing nitroguanidine with sodium amalgam in aqueous solution or suspension at a temperature of from 0 DEG to 30 DEG C. and a pH of from 7.5 to 11. The pH value is controlled by adding a buffer substance, e.g. ammonium chloride or sulphate or boric acid, or an acid, e.g. sulphuric, hydrochloric, phosphoric or carbonic. The aminoguanidine may be precipitated as a sparingly soluble salt.
