The present invention relates to a process for dyeing leather with at least one dye F which has at least one alkaline-activable group of the formula A; where - - - - denotes the bond to the rest of the dye molecule; X is halogen, C1-C4-alkyl or C1-C4-alkoxy, k is 0, 1, 2 or 3, n is 0 or 1 and B is a CH═CH2 group or a CH2—CH2-Q group, where Q is an alkaline-detachable group, which comprises treating the leather with an aqueous float comprising at least one dye F at a pH of not less than 8, generally in the region of 8 to 11.

Procedimiento para el tenido de cuero con por lo menos un colorante F, el cual presenta por lo menos un grupo activable bajo condiciones alcalinas de la fórmula (1), en donde: "línea punteada" representa la ligadura al resto de la molécula del colorante; X representa un resto que atrae electrones; K representa 1, 2 ó 3; n significa 0 ó 1; y B representa un grupo CH=CH2 o un grupo CH2-CH2-Q, en donde Q representa un grupo separable bajo condiciones alcalinas, que comprende el tratamiento del cuero con un bano acuoso que contiene por lo menos un colorante F, a un valor de pH de por lo menos 7,5. El presente se refiere también a nuevos colorantes que son especialmente adecuados para el tenido reactivo de cuero.
