Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject polyurethane by using a means capable of performing a thermoplastic processing without a troublesome chemical treatment by adding a crushed state of crosslinked polyurethane to a reaction product mixture. SOLUTION: A thermoplastic polyurethane is produced by reacting isocyanate with a compound reactive with the isocyanate in the presence or absence of a chain extender, a catalyst and a usual auxiliary and an additive. In the process, crosslinked polyurethane in crushed shape is added to the reaction mixture before, during and/or after the reaction. Preferably, a dimension of the crushed crosslinked polyurethane is within the range of 0.1-25mm and a weight ratio of the crushed polyurethane to the reaction mixture is (0.001:1)-(4:1), and an equivalent ratio of the isocyanate group to total or the reactive hydrogen atom is (0.9:1)-(1.5:1).

Abstract: The prodn. of polyurethane (PU) foam comprises reacting (a) polyisocyanate(s); with (b) high-mol. wt. polyol(s) with at least two reactive H atoms, comprising (B1) polyoxyalkylene-polyol(s) with an OH no. of 30-500, obtd. by alkoxylating N,N'-bis(3-aminopropyl)-ethylenediamine, tripropylene-tetramine and/or tetrapropylene-pentamine with alkene oxide(s); and opt. (c) low-mol wt. chain extenders and/or crosslinkers; in the presence of (d) blowing agents. Also claimed are polyols (b1) obtd. as above.

Abstract: Multilayer polyurethane film (I) is claimed, in which at least 2 of the layers consist of thermoplastic PU (TPU) with different Shore hardness. Pref. (I) is double-layer film with layers of different Shore hardness. At least one layer (1) is TPU with Shore A hardness (SAH) = 60-98 and at least one layer (2) is TPU with Shore D hardness (SDH) = 50-74, pref. based on polyether-polyol and polyester-polyol, respectively, and pref. forming the upper or patterned layer (1) and the lower layer (2). (I) is 0.2-2.5 mm thick, and the separate layers are 01.-2.4 mm thick, opt. the film material can be a thermoplastic moulding material contg. at last 50 wt.% TPU and up to 50 wt.% ABS copolymer, As copolymer, styrene copolymer modified with acrylate rubber, polyester, polycarbonate, polyamide, or a mixt. of at least 2 of these plastics; (I) is produced by coextrusion. USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) is useful for the prodn. of covering layers by thermoforming (claimed). Cost-effective process for the prodn. of (I). The film has good thermal and light stability, and can be backed with PU foam without undesirable interactions, or thermoformed over a wide temp. range, e.g. to produce "mould skins" for automobile dashboards, glove boxes, etc.
