    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject polyurethane by using a means capable of performing a thermoplastic processing without a troublesome chemical treatment by adding a crushed state of crosslinked polyurethane to a reaction product mixture. SOLUTION: A thermoplastic polyurethane is produced by reacting isocyanate with a compound reactive with the isocyanate in the presence or absence of a chain extender, a catalyst and a usual auxiliary and an additive. In the process, crosslinked polyurethane in crushed shape is added to the reaction mixture before, during and/or after the reaction. Preferably, a dimension of the crushed crosslinked polyurethane is within the range of 0.1-25mm and a weight ratio of the crushed polyurethane to the reaction mixture is (0.001:1)-(4:1), and an equivalent ratio of the isocyanate group to total or the reactive hydrogen atom is (0.9:1)-(1.5:1).

    Abstract: Production of microcellular polyurethane elastomers is claimed by reacting (A) high mol. polyhydroxy compounds and optionally (B) low. mol. chain extenders and/or crosslinkers with (C) 3,3'-dimethoxy-4,4'- diisocyanato-diphenyl in presence or absence of (D) catalysts, foaming agents etc.. Preferably the polyhydroxy component (A) is of functionality 2-3 and mol. wt. 500-6,000 and is especially a difunctional polyester polyol, OH-containing polycarbonate or polyoxybutylene glycol of mol. wt. 800-3,500 while the chain extender is an alkane diol, dialkylene glycol or polyoxyalkylene glycol of mol. wt. up to 800 and the crosslinker is also of mol. wt. up to 800 and is a tri-or tetra-hydric alcohol or polyoxyalkylene polyol of functionality 3-4. Preparation of the elastomer is by: (1) first preparing a prepolymer of NCO content 2-20 wt.% by reacting (C) with (A) and optionally (B) and then reacting this prepolymer with water and optionally also (B); or (2) first reacting (C) with part of (A) and optionally also (B) and then reacting the prepolymer obtained with a mixture of water, the remainder of (A) and optionally also (B).

    Abstract: In an apparatus for producing foamed plastics parts, a closed mold (1) is filled with polymer molding compound and, after the elapse of a reaction time, the finished part is removed. A plurality of identical molds (1) run on mold carriers (5) through a production installation. For the purpose of reducing the production outlay, a demolding device (11) shared by all the molds (1) is brought into operative connection successively with the molds (1) and in each case one mold (1) is opened. The movements required in this operation are executed by the demolding device (11). An unlocking unit (19) and a swiveling unit (20) of the demolding device (11) are brought into engagement with the mold (1) by a positioning unit (21), after which the mold (1) is unlocked and one mold half (1a) of the mold (1) is swung open. For unlocking the mold (1), the latter is raised against spring force and a positive locking is brought out of engagement.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a microcellular PU elastomer with improved dynamic-mechanical characteristics, based on an isocyanate component consisting essentially of 4,4'-MDI and other standard components. The elastomer in question has a physical-chemical structure characterised by a one- or two-peak signal next to the low-molecular main signal for an (apparent) molar mass of greater than 250,000 g/mol as measured by gel-permeation chromatography from a solution of the microcellular PU elastomer produced at 90 DEG C in N,N-dimethylformamide with 1 % di-n-butylamine, against polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) as the standard, the signal being reduced or eliminated following addition of lithium chloride to this solution. The elastomer has a urea content of 14-18 wt %. Also disclosed are a process for producing such a microcellular PU elastomer with improved dynamic-mechanical characteristics and the use of said elastomer to produce damping elements.
