    Abstract: The method produces a flat profiled composite body consisting of a base layer of plastics and a coating of sheet material, textile or tissue adhering to it. The coating is applied to the base layer under pressure while the latter is in the plastic state, the body being then shaped and cooled. Immediately on shaping the composite body, its edge is so shaped and/or trimmed that the outermost edge of the coating (4) is flush with that of the base layer (2) or protrudes beyond it. The shaping can be done by a two-part shaping tool, the top part of which is spring-mounted on a plate and guided by bars fixed to the latter and passing through it. These have stamping strips at their free ends, thrusting the edge into a recess in the bottom part of the tool in the second stage of the operation, and trimming off the edges in conjunctions with cutting edges on the bottom part.

    Abstract: In mfr. of plastics tubular film where a prim. tubular film is produced by (A) extrusion of plastics through an annular die, the plastic having a temp. > m.pt. and the prim. tube having 2-300 cm. dia and 20-1500 mu wall thickness; (B) cooling the prim. tube immediately before it issues from the die without altering its dimensions; and (C) blowing it to 4-3000 cm dia. immediately after it has issued from a cooling device; the cooling device for the external cooling of the prim. tube comprises (I) an internal tube of sintered porous material (1) having inner dia. 2-300 cm. wall thickness 1-10mm, and pore distances of 5-200 m mu; (II) a jacket (2) snugly fitting the (1) - except the bottom part thereof - which serves to receive a liq. cooling medium; and (III) a channel (3) to receive a liq. lubricant, the (3) surrounding the (1) at its bottom section and being connected with it. The cooling device as claimed is of rel. simple design and affords trouble-free operation.
