Abstract: The invention relates to hydroxyl-containing saturated polyester resins, to their preparation, to their use for two-component polyurethane paints, (surface coatings, lacquers, enamels, varnishes), and to a process for extending their pot life. These hydroxyl-containing polyester resins contain incorporated acidic phosphoric acid ester groups (phosphate groups), the acid number emanating from the phosphoric acid being from 5 to 60 mg of KOH/g. In order to extend the pot life, volatile tertiary amines or volatile amides of secondary amines can be added to them. The hydroxyl-containing polyester resins according to the invention are suitable, in combination with polyisocyanates, for two-component paints.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the preparation of highly reactive hydroxyl-containing polyesters, and to their use. To this end, dicarboxylic anhydrides are esterified first with polyols containing from 3 to 6 primary hydroxyl groups per molecule and subsequently with diols containing from 3 to 6 carbon atoms, in the presence of an acidic catalyst and an entrainer at from 100 to 150 DEG C with azeotropic removal of water. The hydroxyl-containing polyesters prepared according to the invention are suitable, in combination with polyisocyanates, for two-component paints (surface coatings, enamels, laquers, varnishes).
