    Abstract: Un compuesto organico que tiene al menos un enlace doble C-C se epoxida por medio de peroxido de hidrogeno en presencia de al menos un compuesto con actividad catalitica y al menos un disolvente, en donde una mezcla de productos que contiene a-hidroperoxialcoholes se reduce utilizando al menos un agente reductor. El proceso consiste ventajosamente en al menos los siguientes pasos: (i) la reaccion de un compuesto organico que tenga al menos un doble enlace C-C con peroxido de hidrogeno en presencia de al menos un compuesto con actividad catalitica y al menos un disolvente para obtener una mezcla de productos P1 que contenga a-hidroperoxialcoholes; (ii) separar un epoxido formado en la reaccion del paso (i) y el compuesto organico sin reaccionar que tiene al menos un doble enlace C-C a partir de P1 o P1' para obtener una mezcla de productos P2 o P2', en donde P2 contiene los a-hidroperoxialcoholes formados como subproducto en la reaccion del paso (i), y P2' esta practicamente libre de a-hidroperoxialcoholes; iii) tratar P1 y/o P2 con al menos un agente reductor de modo que los a-hidroperoxialcoholes se conviertan en los glicoles correspondientes para obtener una mezcla de productos P1' o P3.

    Abstract: An organic compound having at least one C-C double bond is epoxidized by means of hydrogen peroxide in the presence of at least one catalytically active compound and at least one solvent, wherein a product mixture comprising alpha-hydroperoxyalcohols is reduced using at least one reducing agent. The process advantageously comprises at least the following steps: (i) reacting an organic compound having at least one C-C double bond with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of at least one catalytically active compound and at least one solvent to give a product mixture P1 comprising alpha-hydroperoxyalcohols; (ii) separating an epoxide formed in the reaction in step (i) and the unreacted organic compound having at least one C-C double bond from P1 or P1' to give a product mixture P2 or P2', where P2 comprises the alpha-hydroperoxyalcohols formed as by-product in the reaction in step (i) and P2' is largely free of alpha-hydroperoxyalcohols; (iii) treating P1 and/or P2 with at least one reducing agent so that the alpha-hydroperoxyalcohols are converted into corresponding glycols to give a product mixture P1' or P3.

    Abstract: A process for preparing propylene oxide comprises at least the following steps: (a) propene is reacted with a hydroperoxide in a solvent in the presence of a zeolite catalyst to give a mixture (M 0 ), where the mixture (M 0 ) comprises propylene oxide, solvent, unreacted propene, unreacted hydroperoxide and oxygen, (b) the propylene oxide is separated from the mixture (M 0 ) so as to give a mixture (M 1 ) which comprises unreacted propene and oxygen, (c) the mixture (M 1 ) is brought into contact with a liquid medium comprising at least a solvent to give the mixtures (M 2 ) and (M 3 ), where the mixture (M 3 ) comprises part of the unreacted propene and oxygen and the mixture (M 2 ) comprises solvent and residual propene, and the mixture (M 3 ) which has been separated off and comprises unreacted propene and oxygen has a ratio of oxygen to propene such that the mixture (M 3 ) is not ignitable, and the mixture (M 2 ) is fed to at least one reaction of propene with hydroperoxide.
