Abstract: The production of a hydroxyl group containing polymer, preferably polytetrahydrofuran, by ester exchange of the corresponding acyloxy group containing polymer with alcohol in the presence of a sodium containing catalyst involves separation of the sodium cation using a catalytic amount of water by passage through an ion exchange material.
