Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use a crosslinked polyvinylpyrrolidone so as to increase the disintegration rate of a compact granulated detergent and cleanser when contacted with water, by utilizing crosslinked polyvinylpyrrolidone particles each with a specific diameter. SOLUTION: Crosslinked polyvinylpyrrolidone particles each with a diameter of 50-400 μm, preferably 80-300 μm are used as an additive so as to increase the disintegration rate of a compact granulated detergent and cleanser when contacted with water. The compact granulated detergent and cleanser mean particles exhibiting detergent and cleanser activities, especially pellets, e.g. (dishwasher) detergent pellets, bleaching agent pellets, or detergent pellets for clothing especially for domestic use, more especially in a washer. Abstract: A coated catalyst comprising (a) an inert carrier having particles of not less than 100 mu m diameter and a surface area of up to 20 m2/g and (b) a coating which contains the catalytic material and adheres firmly to the outer surface and to the edge zone, near the surface, of the carrier particles, can be prepared by applying the catalytic material as a 10-70% strength suspension in water to the agitated carrier particles, which are at below 70 DEG C., if the suspension is sprayed, at a constant rate of from 0.01 to 2.0 kg of active material/hour/liter of carrier onto the carrier particles, while at the same time uniformly passing from 0.1 to 12 m3 (S.T.P.)/hour/liter of carrier of an inert gas at from 20 DEG to 300 DEG C. over the carrier particles, under conditions such that the water only evaporates incompletely but the water content of the resulting coating is less than the maximum degree of saturation of the catalytic material.

Abstract: Production of granular fertilizer (I), comprises: (A) supplying powdered fertilizer to a mixer; (B) continuously supplying liquid binder while operating the mixer and vortex generator; (C) carrying out the mixing process until granules of the required size are obtained; and (D) removing and drying the granules. Production of granular fertilizer (I), comprises: (A) supplying powdered fertilizer to a mixer having an annular, non-rotating mixing region, a central mixer carrying mixing tools occupying most of the mixing space and a rotating vortex generator in the mixing tool region; (B) continuously supplying liquid binder while operating the mixer and vortex generator at suitable rotation speed and peripheral velocity; (C) carrying out the mixing process until granules of the required size are obtained; and (D) removing and drying the granules.

Abstract: Use is claimed of crosslinked polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) particles, of size 50-400 mu , as additives for compacted particulate detergents to increase the disintegration rate when the detergent comes in contact with water. Independent claims are also included for: (i) compacted particulate detergent compositions containing 0.5-20 wt.% of the PVP additive particles of size 50-400 mu with at least 10 wt.% below 200 mu ; and (ii) production of such compositions containing the PVP disintegrating agent by mixing the PVP particles with powdered detergent ingredients and compacting the mixture.

An Independent claim is included for a process for the production of a diaphragm by addition of (I) to a solution containing water and a thickening agent; filtering of the mixture with suction over a porous support to layer the composite fiber (I); drying of the coated porous support and heating at 90-390 degrees C.
