Abstract: The invention relates to swelling-resistant integral polyurethane foams obtainable by reacting polyisocyanate prepolymers (a) with a polyol mixture (b) comprising a polyether polyol (b1) based on a bifunctional starter molecule and a polyether polyol (b2) based on a trifunctional to pentafunctional starter molecule, with the polyols (b1) and (b2) being prepared by alkoxylation by means of ethylene oxide (hereinafter referred to as EO) and propylene oxide (hereinafter referred to as PO), having an ethylene oxide content of more than 50% by weight and at least 5% of the ethylene oxide being present as an EO end cap.

Abstract: Polyurethane foam derived from (a) an isocyanate prepolymer, (b) a polyether-ol and other components, in which (a) is obtained by reacting a polyisocyanate with a polyether-ol (OH number 15-250) obtained by alkoxylating a diol starter compound, and (b) is obtained by alkoxylating a triol starter compound. Polyurethane (PUR) containing the reaction mixture of (a) a polyisocyanate prepolymer with an NCO content of 8-25% with (b) a polyether-ol with an OH number of 20-200 and optionally (c) chain extenders, in presence of (d) water as blowing agent, (e) catalysts and optionally (f) additives. The prepolymer (a) is obtained by reacting a polyisocyanate (a1) with a polyether-ol component (a2) with an OH number of 15-250 which is obtained by alkoxylating a diol starter compound; polyether-ol (b) is obtained by alkoxylating a triol starter compound. An independent claim is also included for a method for the production of PUR by reacting components (a)-(f) together as above.

Abstract: A composite material comprises a polyurethane (I), adhesively bonded to a thermoplastic substrate. The polyurethane (I) is produced by reacting (a) an isocyanate and (b) a hydroxy-functional prepolymer produced by reacting an isocyanate with a polyester polyol that is the condensation product of adipic acid and/or phthalic anhydride with diols and/or triols. Composite material comprises a polyurethane (I) adhesively bonded to a thermoplastic substrate. The polyurethane (I) is produced by reacting a mixture of (a) an isocyanate, (b) a hydroxy-functional prepolymer produced by reacting an isocyanate with a polyester polyol that has a functionality of 2-3 and a hydroxyl number of 40-400 and is the condensation product of adipic acid and/or phthalic anhydride with diols and/or triols of molecular weight 62-3000 and optionally (c) a catalyst, (d) a propellant and/or (e) additives. An independent claim is also included for a process for producing the composite material, comprising reacting components (a)-(e) in the presence of the thermoplastic substrate.

Abstract: A laminated element comprises a thermoplastic polymer bonded to the reaction product of a mixture of an isocyanate, a polyester polyalcohol (functionality of 2-3 and a hydroxyl number of 40-400 mgKOH/g), prepared from adipic acid and/or phthalic acid anhydride with polytetrahydrofuran, 1,6-hexanediol, 1,4-butanediol, monoethylene glycol, diethyleneglycol, trimethylolpropane and/or neopentylglycol. A laminated element (I) comprises: (A) a thermoplastic polymer, to which is bonded; (B) the reaction product a mixture comprising (B1) isocyanate (B2) a polyester polyalcohol, having a functionality of 2-3 and a hydroxyl number of 40-400 mgKOH/g, prepared from the condensation of adipic acid and/or phthalic acid anhydride with polytetrahydrofuran, 1,6-hexanediol, 1,4-butanediol, monoethylene glycol, diethyleneglycol, trimethylolpropane and/or neopentylglycol and optionally (B3) catalyst; (C) propellant; and/or (D) additives and processing aids. Independent claims are included for: (i) a process for the production of (I) by the application of (B) onto (A); and (ii) aircraft components, automobile components or furniture containing (I).
