Abstract: Polyurethane foams are new when obtained by reaction of polyisocyanates with isocyanate-reactive components including by weight a combination of (A) acrylate polyols of molecular weight 1500-15000 (10-60%); (B) polyetherpolyols of molecular weight 2500-8000 containing below 35 wt.% ethylene oxide-rich polyetherpolyols (20-60%); and (C) polyols of molecular weight 400-2499 (1-35%). Independent claims are also included for (i) the use of acrylate polyols in the production of viscoelastic polyurethane flexible foams; and (ii) the above preparation for the novel polyurethane foams.

Abstract: A prepolymer for use in 1-component polyurethane foam in cans is made by reacting polyols with a stoichiometric excess of a monomer-free polyisocyanate which is obtained by reacting a di-isocyanate with less than the stoichiometric amount of polyol and then removing the excess di-isocyanate. One-component polyurethane foam made by depressurising a prepolymer (I) which is obtained by reacting a monomer-free polyisocyanate (II) with a stoichiometric deficit of polyols and which is contained in a pressure can with a physical blowing agent. The polyisocyanate used (II) is obtained by reacting a di-isocyanate with less than the stoichiometric amount of polyol and then removing the excess di-isocyanate. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a prepolymer (I) as described above for the production of 1-component polyurethane foam in cans; (2) a method as described above for the production of (I); and (3) a method as described above for the production of 1-component polyurethane foam in cans.

Abstract: Polyurethane foam derived from (a) an isocyanate prepolymer, (b) a polyether-ol and other components, in which (a) is obtained by reacting a polyisocyanate with a polyether-ol (OH number 15-250) obtained by alkoxylating a triol starter compound, and (b) is obtained by alkoxylating a diol starter compound. Polyurethane (PUR) containing the reaction mixture of (a) a polyisocyanate prepolymer with an NCO content of 8-25% with (b) a polyether-ol with an OH number of 20-200 and optionally (c) chain extenders, in presence of (d) water as blowing agent, (e) catalysts and optionally (f) additives. The prepolymer (a) is obtained by reacting a polyisocyanate (a1) with a polyether-ol component (a2) with an OH number of 15-250 which is obtained by alkoxylating a triol starter compound; polyether-ol (b) is obtained by alkoxylating a diol starter compound. An independent claim is also included for a method for the production of PUR by reacting components (a)-(f) together as above.

Polyisocyanate poly-addition products (I) containing hydrophobic compounds and other compound(s) selected from: (i) cyclic organic compounds with mol. wts. of 200-3000; (ii) salts of Sub-Group I, II and/or VIII metals; (iii) organic and/or inorganic acid anhydrides; (iv) cyclic sulfonic acid esters or sulfones; (v) lactones, lactams or cyclic esters; and/or (vi) alpha , beta -unsaturated carboxylic acids and their derivatives and alpha , beta -unsaturated ketones and/or aldehydes. Independent claims are also included for: (a) a process for the production of (I) which is carried out in presence of hydrophobic compounds and at least one other compound of types (i-vi) as above; (b) mattresses or padding for furniture and/or carpets, containing (I) in the form of flexible polyurethane foam.
