Abstract: A compound (I), reactive with isocyanates is prepared from (A) hydroxyl-containing products from condensation of phenol and/or phenol derivatives with formaldehyde; and (B) alcohols and/or alcoholates with (C) alkylene oxides, optionally in the presence of (D) catalysts; whereby (A), (B) and optionally (D) are mixed at above the average glass transition temperature (av.Tg) of (A) before and/or during addition of (C). Flexible and/or rigid foams based on polyisocyanate-polyaddition products are produced by reaction of polyisocyanates, (I) and optionally chain extenders and/or cross-linking agents in the presence of catalysts, blowing agents and optionally flame retardants, processing agents and/or additives.
