Abstract: The invention relates to polyelectrolyte complexes of cationic and anionic polymers, comprising (a) cationic condensates of (i) at least one amine and (ii) a cross-linking agent from the group of epihalohydrins, or bishalohydrins of diols, bishalohydrins of polyalkylene glycols, bishalohydrins of polytetrahydrofurans, alkylene dihalides, alkylene trihalides, bis-epoxides, tris-epoxides, tetra-epoxides, and/or mixtures of the above and/or quaternary cationic condensates of (i) and (ii) and (b) anionic compounds with at last three anionic groups and a loading ratio of anionic to cationic polymers of 0.01 to 20. The invention further relates to methods for the production of the polyelctrolyte complexes by means of mixing the cationic condensates (a) with anionic compounds (b).
