Abstract: The application relates to a method of thermally processing hydrogenation water and hydrogenation residue in coal hydrogenation, the total hydrogenation effluent, containing the phenols, ammonium compounds and hydrogen sulphide, from the liquid phase and gas phase being introduced together with the total hydrogenation residue of the liquid phase together with air into a combustion chamber and being burned at temperatures above 800 DEG C. The advantage is that all the toxic substances in the hydrogenation effluent are eliminated without effluent treatment.
