Abstract: The invention relates to composite elements of a polyamide layer A which was produced by polymerisation of activated alkaline lactam and at least one cover layer B consisting of polycarbonate or polyamide imide. The composite elements are preferably produced by covering a polyamide moulding on both sides with the cover layer film and press-moulding the layers together with heating. The composite elements can be further processed by press-moulding to form finished parts, for example for the automobile sector.

Abstract: A polyimide powder particularly suitable for the production of moldings by high pressure sintering is prepared by mixing a solution of an aromatic polyimido-acid, obtained by a conventional process and having an intrinsic viscosity of 1.5 to 2.5 dl/g, in an aprotic dipolar organic solvent, with a water-entraining agent, heating the mixture to the boiling point of the entraining agent, azeotropically distilling off the water formed, filtering off the polyimide powder which precipitates, washing it if appropriate, and drying it.

Abstract: Wholly aromatic mesomorphic polyester imides which form a liquid-crystalline fiber-forming melt below 320 DEG C. and are composed of (a) from 5 to 35 mole % of repeat units of the formulae I and/or II I II where the Xs and n's can be identical or different, each X being -O-, -S-, -SO2-, -CO-, -CH2- or =C(CH3)2 and n being 0 or 1, (b) from 0 to 30 mole % of repeat units of the formulae III and/or IV III IV (c) a molar amount corresponding to the total amount of components a and b of one or more of the repeat units of the formulae V, VI, VII or VIII V VI VII VIII (d) not less than 10 mole % of repeat units of the formula IX IX (e) if desired from 5 to 25 mole % of repeat units of the formula X X the molar proportions of components a, b, c, d, and e adding up to 100 mole % in each case, and the preparation thereof.
