    Abstract: Pyrazol derivatives having general formula (I) are disclosed, as well as their use as nitrification inhibitors. In said formula (I): residues R , R , R and R may be substituted once or twice by halogen and/or hydroxyl; the residues R , R and R stand for halogen, nitro, hydrogen, C1-C20-alkyl, C3-C8-cycloalkyl, C5-C20-aryl or alkyl aryl; and R may stand for (a) a residue R of the formula (II), in which R and R stand for hydrogen, C1-C20-alkyl optionally substituted once or twice by halogen and/or hydroxyl, a carboxyl group, a carboxymethyl group or a functional derivative of both latter groups, and R stands for a carboxyl residue or a carboxy-(C1-C3-alkyl) residue or for a functional derivative of said groups, or R may stand for (b) a residue R having the formula (III), in which R and R stand for hydrogen, C1-C20-alkyl, C2-C8-cycloalkyl, C5-C20-aryl or alkyl aryl, these residues being optionally substituted once or twice by halogen, and R stands for hydrogen or a poly-(C2-C4-alkylene oxide) residue whose terminal hydroxyl group may be etherified with an aliphatic C1-C10 alcohol or esterified with a C1-C10 carboxylic acid.

    Abstract: Separation of mixture of amine(s), water, low-boiling fraction and optionally high-boiling fraction includes optional distillative separation of low and high-boiling fractions, extraction of mixture with aqueous sodium hydroxide solution; and distillation of resultant aqueous-organic phase to recover anhydrous amine(s) from sump or side in separation part of column and amine/water azeotrope. Separation of a mixture containing amine(s) (I), water, low-boiling fraction (II) and optionally high-boiling fraction (III) comprises: (i) optional distillative separation of a first low-boiling fraction; (ii) optional distillative separation of a first high-boiling fraction; (iii) extraction of the mixture with aqueous sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solution, giving a first aqueous phase containing NaOH solution and a second aqueous-organic phase (IV) containing amines, other low-boiling fractions and optionally other high-boiling fractions; and (iv) distillation of the aqueous-organic phase to recover anhydrous amines as sump discharge or side discharge in the separation part of the column, an amine/water azeotrope, which is recycled to (iii), as side discharge in the concentration part and further low-boiling fraction as top discharge.

    Abstract: Production of N-substituted 2-methyl-1,5-pentanediamine derivatives (I) comprises reacting 2-methylglutaronitrile with a primary or secondary amine and hydrogen at 50-250 degrees C and 0.5-35 MPa in the presence of a catalyst that comprises one or more noble metals on an oxide support and has been pretreated with hydrogen at 50-300 degrees C for at least 0.5 hours. Production of 2-methyl-1,5-pentanediamine derivatives of formula (I) comprises reacting 2-methylglutaronitrile with a primary or secondary amine of formula R R NH and hydrogen at 50-250 degrees C and 0.5-35 MPa in the presence of a catalyst that comprises one or more noble metals on an oxide support and has been pretreated with hydrogen at 50-300 degrees C for at least 0.5 hours: R , R = H or 1-20C alkyl, 3-8C cycloalkyl, aryl or 7-20C aryl optionally substituted by 1-20C alkyl, 1-20C alkoxy, 6-20C aryloxy and/or OH, or together form a 3-7C alkylene chain optionally substituted by 1-20C alkyl and/or 1-20C alkoxy and optionally interrupted by one or two O atoms or NR groups, provided that R and R are not both H; R = H or 1-20C alkyl. An Independent claim is also included for 1,5-bis(dimethylamino)-2-methylpentane (Ia).
