Abstract: Prepn. of indazoles of formula: where R1 gps. are the same or diff. and are H, aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, araliphatic or aromatic gp., or halogen; R2 is H or aliphatic gp is by reaction of a cpd. of formula: in presence of acetic acid, an alkali metal alkanoate and an inert solvent with an alkyl nitrile, an ester of glycol or a deriv. with nitrous acid and/or nitrous gases and removing in known manner the acetyl gp. from the 1-acetylindazole. The simple, economica process is applicable to industrial scale and gives high yields of good quality prodt., used as inters. for dyes. drugs and pesticides.

Abstract: Preparation of optically active carboxylic acids of the general formula I in which Ar represents a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl or naphthyl group, n can be zero or 1 and R represents a hydrocarbon radical having 1-6 C atoms, by reacting a statistically stereoisomeric anhydride I', which has been prepared from racemic I, with an optically active alcohol in organic solution and in the presence of a tertiary organic base, the optically active alcohol used being a 1-pyridylalkanol of the general formula II in which R represents a C1-C4-alkyl group and which simultaneously acts as the base.
