Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reactor apparatus and a method for treating fluid material in which temperature is measured in the representative conditions in the tubular reactors. SOLUTION: The reactor apparatus comprises both a tubular reactor equipped with a temperature measuring unit and a tubular reactor unequipped with the temperature measuring unit. The tubular reactors are set up so that the mass of solid particles to be introduced is directly proportional to the free cross-sectional area of the respective tubular reactors and flow resistance or pressure drop in the tubular reactors, and accordingly average rectilinear velocity are identical when gas flow rate being proportional to the free cross-sectional area is conducted. Concretely, the above- mentioned pressure drop is adjusted by fines fraction of the solid particles in accordance with the following formula. mfines =mtot (Pm -PI)/(P2 -P1 ) (in formula, mfines denotes mass of fines fraction. mtot denotes total mass of solid particle and fines fraction. Pm denotes average pressure drop in tubular reactor unequipped with temperature measuring unit. P1 denotes pressure drop in tubular reactor equipped with temperature measuring unit in the case of filling solid particles. P2 denotes pressure drop in tubular reactor which is equipped with temperature measuring unit and is filled with fines fraction).

Abstract: The temperature difference between gas and condenser surface is reduced, compared with present practice, to less than 20 deg C. At least 10 000 condensation nuclei/cm in the condenser for effective condensation is carried out. The gas mixture should have a Lewis factor between 0.9 and 1.5. Components which are required to be separated are water vapor and an organic vapor, which could be the principal product or a byproduct. Cooling is generally carried out in at least two stages over heat exchange surfaces that could be dry or covered by a water film. The body of the specification, supported by the drawings, contains detailed examples of condensation processes in which data from the inventive and the present methods are compared.

Abstract: When producing esters of acrylic or methacrylic acid by esterification with alcohols troublesome deposits of high molecular byproducts build up in parts of the apparatus. Said liquid is partially or totally made out of the alcohol used for esterification. The moistening is performed preferably by means of appropriate nozzles or cleansing jets.

In a process for cooling hot gaseous reaction products from gas phase reactions for preparing glyoxal of compounds of general formula (I): H2C=C(R )-C(R )=O, in which R is hydrogen or methyl and R is hydrogen or OH, in particular acrolein, methacrolein, acrylic acid and methacrylic acid, hot gaseous reaction products are brought into contact with a cooling liquid in a gas cooler, and the cooling liquid is present in the form of a moving liquid film.
