Abstract: The wool is impregnated with an aq. soln. contg. a condnsn. prod. of urea and >=1 aliphatic polyamines with 3-4 primary and/or sec. amino gps. sepd. from each other by 2-6C atoms. Up to 50 mol. % of the polyamine may be replaced by an aliphatic diamine. After impregnation the wood is heated to 120-160 degrees C. Amt. applied is 4.5-20 (6-12) wt. %, from a soln. contg. 5-20 wt.% condensn. prod. -0.5-5% Na2CO3 and a wetting agent. Felting and shrinkage are greatly reduced, even after repeated washing and the feel of the wool is unaffected. Dyeing props. are unchanged with slightly darker shades and better precipitation of the dye on the wool. Wash fastness of the dye is unaffected.

Abstract: 1431476 Antistatic fabric BASF AG 20 Sept 1973 [21 Sept 1972] 44160/73 Heading DIP Antistatic finish is formed on synthetic fibres by fixing on the surface of the fibres a compound containing antistatically active groups, wherein a compound of formula I A is n-butylene, B is -(CH2)2 or -CH.CH3. CH2- R is H or C1-6 aliphatic, R' is alkylene 1=5-100 m=0-30, n 1-4or if R is C2H4, 1-20 and z=1-10, is allowed to react on the fibre with a compound of formula II wherein B has the meaning above, P is 6-30, R is 2- to 6-valent C3-13 aliphatic or cycloaliphatic, #R is CH2-CHOH-CH2Cl or -CH2-#CHCH2O and q is 2-6.The compounds may be partially reacted prior to application to the fibres, preferably to a degree in which the compounds are still soluble in water. The compounds may be applied by dipping, spraying, spreading or pouring. The compounds may be fixed by heating up to 200‹C. The fibres being treated may be polyethylene, polypropylene, vinyl chloride or vinylidene chloride polymers, polyurethanes, polyesters, acrylonitrile homopolymers and copolymers and polyamides and may be in the form of woven, knitted or non-woven fabrics.
