Abstract: The dyes are of formula (I) (in which R1 and R2 are H, Cl, Br, NO2, CN, OH, amino-alkylamino with (1-4)C, phenyl, (1-4)C alkyl, (1-4)C alkoxy, (2-4)C hydroxyalkoxy or carbalkoxy, and X is H, Cl, Br, NO2 or R3 and R4 are the same as R1 and R2. Pref. R2 is H, R1 is H, Cl, Br, ethyl, methoxy or ethoxy X is H, Cl, Br or R3 is a R1 and R4 as R2. The dyes are made by reacting mono- or di-halogen azabenzthones with opt. substd. thiophenols in org. solvent in presence of an acid acceptor and opt. a catalyst. They are suitable for dyeing linear polyester fibres in strong brilliant greenish-yellow shades with good fastness and for colouring thermoplastics in strong fluorescent yellow shades.
