Abstract: Prepn. of water-resistant foils and coatings from water-soluble or water-dispersible grafted proteins comprises tempering at over 40 deg.C and/or treating with a protein-hardening agent. The proteins are obtd. by radical-initiated polymerisation of monoethylenic unsatd. monomers in the presence of proteins where the wt. ratio of monomer to protein is 0.5-90:99.5-10. Diapers, with the above foil or coating on the outer side, are also claimed. USE/ADVANTAGE - The foils/coatings are esp. useful for disposable diapers. They are suitable for composting and dissolve relatively quickly in the alkaline pH-regege
