Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hair-treatment composition, etc., having high hair-setting performance and easily rinsable from the hair by using a polyaspartic acid derivative produce by reacting a polyaspartic acid with a specific amine mixture. SOLUTION: A water-soluble and/or water-dispersible polyaspartic acid derivative or its carboxylic acid salt and polycarboxylic acid salt or quaternarized product based on the unit of the formula (x+y1 +y2 +z=100; (x) is 30-100; (y1 ) is 0-70: (y2 ) is 0-50; (z) is 0-30; A is a primary or secondary non-aromatic amine; B is an amine having t-amino group; C is a group derived from the amine A by the elimination of the amine hydrogen) are used for cosmetic use, especially for the treatment of hair. The compounds of the formula wherein (x) is 30-99.9, (y1 ) is 0.1-50 and (y2 ) is 5-50 are new compounds. The compound of the formula can be produced by reacting a polyaspartic acid or a polysuccinimide with the amine A and the amine B.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new polymer useful as a hair-conditioning agent having good biodegradability, conditioning properties, etc., by reacting a polysuccinimide or a polyaspartic acid with a specific amine mixture. SOLUTION: This water-soluble and/or dispersible polyaspartic acid derivative, its salt or its quaternarized product is composed of a unit of the formula I [x1 +x2 +y1 +y2 +z=100; x1 +x2 is 30-99.9; y1 +y2 is 0.1-70; (z) is 0-20; A is a primary to tertiary alkylamine having a 2-6C alkyl and/or a cyclic diamine of the formula II ((n) and (o) are each 1-5; X is NR ; R is H or an alkyl), etc.; B is an amine of the formula III (R is H or a hydrocarbon group of a saturated or an unsaturated fatty acid; Y is CH2 , NH, etc.; (p) is 1-23; R and R are each H, a hydroxyalkyl, etc.); C is a residue obtained by eliminating amine hydrogen from the amine A having primary or secondary amino group; D is a residue obtained by eliminating amino hydrogen from the amine B having primary or secondary amino group].

Abstract: The use of water-soluble or water-dispersible grafted proteins which can be obtained by free-radical initiated copolymerisation of monoethylenically unsaturated monomers in the presence of proteins as additives to detergents and cleaning agents in amounts of 0.1 to 20 % by weight based on the particular formulations. The graft copolymers improve the primary and secondary detergent capacity and the soil-release properties of phosphate-free and low-phosphate detergent and cleaning agent formulations.
