Abstract: Preparation of impact-modified polyvinyl chloride molding composition involves polymerisation in the presence of an acrylic ester rubber dispersion, giving improved plasticizers content. Production of impact-modified PVC molding composition comprises suspension polymerizing vinyl chloride (VC), optionally with comonomers, in the presence of acrylic ester rubber dispersion obtained by dispersing acrylic ester monomers, and optionally comonomers, in water to give droplets of average diameter 0.1-25 mu m in the presence of a protective colloid and optionally emulsifiers and then polymerizing using radical initiators. An Independent claim is included for the obtained compositions containing 2-12 pts. wt. acrylic ester rubber per 100 pts. wt. PVC.
