    Abstract: Dyes of coumarin series are of formula (I): Z = opt. substd. alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl, aryl or heteroaryl. Z1 and Z2 are H or opt. substd. alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or aryl, or together form part of a heterocyclic ring, or each with the N atom form a satd., opt. substd. 5- or 6-member condensed ring in oposition to the N atom. X = O or NH. (I) are used for dyeing of polyamide, cellulose ester, acrylonitrile polymer and esp. polyester textiles, or mass dyeing of plastics in fluorescent yellow-green shades. The readily-sublimed dyes are also suitable for transfer printing. (I) have high colour strength, giving shades with good fastness to light and thermofixing. In an example, 7 pts. 4-diethylamino salicylaldehyde in 50 vols. isopropanol are refluxed for 15 mins. with 9 pts. 2- 5'-phenyl thiadiazolyl-(2') acetic acid ethyl ester and 2 vols. pyrrolidine, 10 pts. dye of formula (I) with Z = phenyl, X = O, Z1 and Z2 = methyl, are obtained.

    Abstract: Compounds of the general formula I I where B2 and B2 independently of one another are hydrogen, C1-C6-alkyl which may or may not be interrupted by oxygen or sulfur and is unsubstituted by hydroxyl, C1-C4-alkoxy, C1-C4-alkylmercapto, cyano, phenylmercapto (which is unsubstituted by chorine or methyl), unsubstituted or substituted carbamoyl or a carboxylic acid ester group, benzyl or phenylethyl which are unsubstituted or substituted in the ring by chlorine, bromine, methyl, ethyl, methoxy or ethoxy, phenyl which is unsubstituted or substituted by chlorine, bromine, hydroxyl, methoxy, ethoxy, methyl, C1-C4-alkylmercapto, C1-C4-alkanoylamino or amino, unsubstituted or substituted carbamoyl or a carboxylic acid ester group, B2 may in addition be cyano, C2-C4-alkanoyl, benzoyl which is unsubstituted or substituted by chlorine, methyl, methoxy or ethoxy, C1-C6-alkylsulfonyl, or phenylsulfonyl, which is unsubstituted or substituted by chlorine, bromine, methyl, methoxy, ethoxy, amino, C1-C4-alkanoylamino, C1-C4-alkylsulfonyl or benzoylamino, B1 and B2 together may also be a saturated 5-membered or 6-membered ring which may or may not contain oxygen or sulfur, X is oxygen or imino and the ring A may be substituted. Such compounds are outstandingly suitable for dyeing synthetic fibers and plastics.
