Abstract: PURPOSE: To utilize a uniaxially oriented polymer thin layer directly for information reading without another development process by changing the orientation of the polymer layer according to the information to be locally stored by high energy radiations in the polymer layer. CONSTITUTION: The orientation in the polymer layer is locally changed according to the information to be stored by the high energy radiation in the uniaxially oriented thin polymer layer. At this time, the range where the electromagnetic lines of a mask are not transmitted protects the polymer thin layer of the range existing thereunder, thereby making the polymer layer invariable. On the other hand, the orientation of the polymer thin layer is changed in the range where the electromagnetic lines of the mask are transmitted. Namely, the information to be generally destroyed and stored is written into the polymer thin layer and thereafter, the written information is readable. Anther development process for this purpose is not required. As a result, the information memory method which is widely and generally applicable is created.
